KUWAIT: Minister of Health Dr Ahmad Al-Awadhi said that the opening of the fertility and assisted reproduction unit at Farwaniya Hospital is a "qualitative” achievement and an affirmation of the Ministry’s continued commitment to providing exceptional healthcare services in Kuwait. This came in a press statement by Minister Al-Awadhi following the opening of the unit on Wednesday, which is the third in Kuwait after the fertility and assisted reproduction unit at the Maternity Hospital and Jahra Hospital.

He said that this unit is an addition to the health system and a qualitative leap in the services provided, as it will contribute to reducing waiting periods and includes the best consultants and specialists to provide services according to international standards. For her part, Head of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Departments Council and Head of the Obstetrics Department at Farwaniya Hospital Dr Amal Khader said that the opening of the unit is the result of the hard work of the Ministry’s employees.

World class medical equipments

Khader added that the unit provides medical consultations for cases of delayed childbearing, in addition to conducting the necessary examinations to determine the causes of the delay and treat it using modern technologies such as IVF and in vitro fertilization techniques according to modern and approved scientific and international protocols.

The unit also provides treatment for male infertility cases in cooperation with urology consultants, specializing in male infertility and helping to conceive a genetically healthy child in the event of genetic diseases through IVF techniques and genetic screening tests. The unit includes six medical consultation rooms equipped with the latest devices for fertility and urology doctors — men and genetic doctors — two rooms for artificial insemination, two rooms for collecting semen, and an embryoculture laboratory equipped with the latest medical devices.

The unit also includes several laboratories equipped with the latest medical devices, namely a laboratory for analyzing and preparing semen, another for microscopic injection, and a genetic screening laboratory, in addition to two operating rooms fully equipped with the latest medical devices, an egg retrieval device, a surgical microscope for treating male infertility cases, and two anesthesia rooms. — KUNA
