KRCS consolidates its universal values

KUWAIT: The Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) affirmed on Sunday its constant keenness to spread and consolidate humanitarian values and enhance community awareness of the importance of humanitarian work and upgrading it according to international standards. The Vice Chairman of the Society’s Board of Directors, Anwar Al-Hasawi, told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on the occasion of World Humanitarian Day, which falls today, Monday, that Kuwait’s aid has contributed to enhancing its global position in the humanitarian and relief fields.

Al-Hasawi added that the escalating crises and disasters in various regions of the world show the importance of concerted efforts and partnership with international and UN organizations to mitigate the severity of these crises and confront their repercussions. He explained that society has provided many humanitarian aids this year to many countries affected by natural disasters and wars, including Palestine, Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, Sudan, Somalia and Pakistan, in addition to Bangladesh and East African countries.

He stated that the aid varied between relief materials, medical supplies and ambulances, in addition to sponsoring education projects, treating patients, sponsoring orphans, and establishing schools and health centers. Regarding World Humanitarian Day, Al-Hasawi said that countries around the world celebrate it on August 19 every year in appreciation of those working in relief and humanitarian work and to shed light on global and humanitarian crises and the importance of mobilizing the necessary support for those affected by them. He expressed his appreciation for the workers and volunteers in the association and their contributions to humanitarian work inside and outside Kuwait, praising the role of the Kuwaiti people in supporting the humanitarian work. — KUNA
