SACGC opens registration for development program

KUWAIT: Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity (SACGC), one of the centers of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, announced the opening of registration for the second edition of the 2024 professional development program for Kuwaiti teachers working at the Ministry of Education with scientific disciplines, until August 28. The Director General of the Center, Nada Al-Daihani, said in a press release on Sunday that the program is held in cooperation with the Graduate School of Education at the prestigious American University (Harvard) and in implementation of the agreement signed by the Center last year with the platform (Aanaab) in Saudi Arabia.

Al-Daihani added that the program achieved great success in its first edition, which included about 100 teachers from public education (in scientific disciplines). He stressed the constant endeavor of the Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity in providing all available capabilities to support and encourage the spirit of talent and creativity in the Kuwaiti educational sector.

He pointed out that the center’s cooperation with Harvard University and the (Aanaab) platform would achieve the common goal of promoting a culture of creativity and modern technology in Kuwaiti society and add value to the center, which is a key axis in the development of the educational system in the country. The Harvard Teacher Professional Development Program includes the provision of two accredited courses in the Arabic language to train 100 teachers from Kuwait.

The courses include ‘Flexible Thinking’, which focuses on how teachers make decisions to adapt to students, attract their attention, provide the appropriate challenge for them, and address some practical problems in the classroom. The second course, ‘Levels of Assistance,’ deals with the different ways of providing assistance to students and enhancing students’ independence instead of dependence, while reviewing the circumstances that require the use of educational supports and subsidies and how to ensure that learning is appropriate to the needs of the students. The educational staff who meet the conditions for enrollment are invited to apply for the program through the link https://apply.aanaab.com/s3/sacgc-aanaab — KUNA
