INTERSPORT equips Kuwaiti champions for 2024 Paris Olympics

KUWAIT: As the 33rd Olympic Games kicks off in Paris, Ali Abdulwahab Al Mutawa Commercial Co. (AAW) through INTERSPORT, one of its leading sports brands, announced on Monday its support for Kuwait’s qualified Olympians by equipping them with gear and equipment for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

INTERSPORT opened its doors to Kuwait’s swimming Olympians Lara Dashti and Mohammad Al-Zubaid, as well as athletics Olympians Yaqoub Al-Youha, to select the sportswear and equipment they need in preparation for their competitions. Through this initiative, INTERSPORT is one of the first supporters of Kuwait’s 2024 Olympians.

Lara Dashti, Kuwait’s first female Olympic flag-bearer in Tokyo 2020 opening ceremony, returned to compete in the women’s 100m breaststroke on Sunday, July 28, 2024 and set a new personal record, finishing fifth in the race.

Mohammad Al-Zubaid, the youngest swimmer in Kuwait’s Olympic history, will compete in the men’s 100m freestyle on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at 12:21 pm local time. As for the runners, Amal Al-Roumi, selected after achieving a personal record in the 800m indoor event in Spain last February, will compete in her first Olympic race, the women’s 800m, on Friday, August 2, 2024. Yaqoub Al-Youha, also making his second Olympic appearance after Tokyo 2020, will compete in the men’s 110m hurdles on Sunday, August 4, 2024.

The 33rd Olympic Games, taking place in Paris from July 26 to August 11, will feature approximately 10,500 athletes from over 200 countries participating in 32 different sports. Kuwait is proudly represented by nine athletes competing across six sports: Lara Dashti and Mohammad Al-Zubaid in swimming; Yaqoub Al-Youha and Amal Al-Roumi in athletics; Khaled Al-Mudhaf and Mohammed Al-Dihani in archery; Youssef Al-Shamlan in fencing; Souad Al-Faqaan in rowing; and Amina Shah in sailing.
