Kuwaitis highlight sadu, traditional foods in Jerash

NCCAL promotes publications on the Palestinian cause in light of suffering in Gaza: Official

KUWAIT: Secretary-General of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL), Dr Mohamed Al-Jassar, inaugurated on Thursday, Kuwait’s pavilion participating in the 38th session of the Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts held in Jordan. The Kuwait pavilion celebrates various aspects of Kuwaiti culture, which includes publication centers, culture, books, fine arts and handicrafts. There is also a live display of the traditional Sadu craft and a range of traditional Kuwaiti foods.

A group of women are participating in the Kuwaiti pavilion with interactive Kuwaiti Sadu craft displays, to which visitors flocked to experience this traditional craft. Dr Al-Jassar said that the participation of Kuwait comes to promote Arab culture, especially in light of the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza.

He pointed out that the Kuwaiti pavilion focuses on cultural publications, especially titles dealing with the Palestinian cause and publications related to Arabic identity. Jassar said a number of Kuwaiti writers and poets will participate during the activities of the Jerash Cultural Festival, one of the most prestigious cultural events in the region.

Jordanian Minister of Culture Haifa Najjar had commended on Thursday the State of Kuwait for its immense and tremendous role and contributions in bolstering Arab cultural development in a meeting with Dr Al-Najjar, where he lauded cultural ties between the two countries. The Jerash Festival for Culture, Arts and Literature is one of the ancient festivals in the Arab world and was launched in 1981 and has become a cultural and artistic phenomenon and carries deep cultural messages. The festival is held annually in the ancient city of Jarash in northern Jordan. —KUNA
