KUWAIT: Chairman of the Kuwait Basketball Association, Dhari Barjas, affirmed Saturday the completion of all technical and organizing preparations for the Gulf qualifiers of the FIBA U18 Asia Cup 2024 to be hosted by Kuwait on Monday. Speaking in a press release, Barjas, head of the organizing committee, said the Shaikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Hall Complex is ready for the matches, referring to the cooperation of the Public Authority for Sport to finish all required arrangements.
The participating teams are arriving in Kuwait to start their competitions due on Monday, as Kuwait’s team will meet Bahrain, he said, noting that the competition includes Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Qatar. The top two teams will qualify for the Asian tournament to be hosted by Jordan in September, he elaborated. Gulf basketball has developed over the past years, and Kuwaitis get ready for these key qualifications, he said, stating that the ‘Blue’ held their camp in Turkiye for this event. — KUNA
