PARIS: Vice President of the Kuwait Olympic Committee Sheikh Mubarak Faisal Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah confirmed on Thursday the readiness of Kuwait’s champions to participate in the Olympic Games (Paris 2024). This came in a special statement by Sheikh Mubarak to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) after he visited the players who arrived at the headquarters of the Kuwait mission in the Olympic Village in the province (Seine-Saint-Denis) in the capital, Paris. Sheikh Mubarak met with the director of the mission, Ali Al-Marri, and the technical and administrative staff of the national Kuwaiti teams to examine their preparations and readiness for the competitions.

He wished success to the Kuwaiti champions in the six competitions in which the Kuwaiti delegation is participating: shooting, fencing, rowing, swimming, athletics and sailing. He also expressed his pride in the participation of four female athletes, noting that it is a "historic participation”. The female athletes, who make up nearly half of the delegates representing Kuwait, are Lara Dashti (swimming), Amal Al-Roumi (athletics), Suad Al-Faqaan (rowing) and Amina Shah (rowing). Kuwait’s male Olympic athletes participating in Paris 2024 are Yaqoub Al-Youha (athletics), Khaled Al-Mudhaf and Mohammad Al-Daihani (shooting), Yousef Al-Shamlan (fencing), and Mohammad Zubaid (swimming).

He expressed his thanks to all participants, including champions, administrators and representatives of the Kuwait Olympic Committee, in addition to representatives of federations, coaches, technical staff and media. Upon his arrival in Paris, Sheikh Mubarak met with the Kuwaiti sports delegation participating in the Paris 2024 Olympics at the mission’s headquarters in the Olympic Village in Seine-Saint-Denis to follow up on all developments and arrangements in preparation for receiving the players who will flock to the Paris 2024 Olympics. The official opening ceremony of the Olympic Games (Paris 2024) is scheduled to take place Friday. The games will continue until August 11, while the 2024 Paralympic Games will be held in Paris from August 28 to September 8. — KUNA
