KUWAIT: The board of directors of the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training has approved the proposal to accept non-Kuwaiti students to study according to available vacancies and in accordance with specific controls and fees. The director general of the Authority, Dr Hassan Al-Fajam, said in a press statement following a meeting of its board of directors on Thursday that the proposal for students dismissed due to over stay or the low rate was also approved in accordance with specific regulations. The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr Adel Al-Adwani.
Al-Fajam added that the strategic plan of the Authority (2023-2028), which was drafted in cooperation with the general secretariat of the Supreme Planning Council, has been approved by Development and the Arab Planning Institute. He explained that the strategic plan was developed in implementation of the New Kuwait 2035 vision in the field of education and training and a new promotion system for faculty members in colleges, which will be implemented at the beginning of the second semester of the academic year 2024/2025.
He pointed out that one of the most prominent features of the new promotion system is the complete transformation of the electronic promotion system and allowing the application for promotion to be submitted three months before the completion of the legal period. He stressed the importance of encouraging a culture of invention. Patents can constitute up to a maximum of 20 percent of the total scientific output submitted for promotion.
He mentioned that the Authority’s Board of Directors also adopted several priority proposals, in addition to approving the promotion of 13 faculty members from the various faculties of the authority and the recommendations of the research committee to accommodate diploma holders from the members of the training staff. The board also approved the formation of an advisory committee to study some scientific and academic topics that have been completed by the board, headed by board member Dr Fayez Al-Dhafiri. — KUNA
