Zain promotes protection of marine environment

Company sailed to Alhala islet to raise awareness in collaboration with Scientific Center

KUWAIT: Zain, in collaboration with the Scientific Center, has organized a unique awareness event to promote marine environment protection. The company sailed to Alhala islet in southern Kuwait to emphasize the importance of preserving the marine environment and raising awareness of sustainability goals. During the event, teams from Zain and the Scientific Center engaged with seagoers on boats and jet skis, reminding them to avoid littering and disposing of harmful waste, especially near coral reefs. This initiative also aimed to promote sustainability goals to mitigate the impacts of climate change.

Alhala is a small islet-like area in southern Kuwait that appears during low tide and submerges during high tide. It is a popular summer destination for the local seafaring community. Zain actively engaged with visitors at Alhala, distributing gifts and ice cream to help them cope with the hot weather and make the most out of the experience. Environmental sustainability is a top priority for Zain. The company’s social initiatives aim to foster a culture of sustainability within the community by promoting practices such as reducing energy consumption, recycling, using renewable energy sources, and preserving the marine environment.

Zain continues to support various environmental preservation efforts by partnering with organizations that share its vision, including the Scientific Center, part of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS). The company also maintains strategic partnerships with volunteer groups like the Kuwait Dive Team, to which it has donated a fully equipped boat to support marine protection operations in Kuwait. This partnership has resulted in the removal of thousands of tons of harmful waste and the protection of tens of thousands of sea creatures.
