Today in Kuwait’s history


KUWAIT: 1961 -- The UN Security Council (UNSC) held an emergency meeting on a complaint lodged by Britain on behalf of the State of Kuwait to look into Iraqi allegations and claims against Kuwait.

1997 -- The first issue of “Al-Dustour” weekly was published. It is a parliamentary publication with Sheridah Al-Muoushirji as Editor-in-Chief.

2000 -- Kuwait and Saudi Arabia completed the demarcation of joint maritime borders. 2000 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah honored the late Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz with the highest Kuwaiti medal, Mubarak Al-Kabeer Medal, in appreciation for his country’s role in supporting Kuwaiti causes. In turn, the Saudi royalty honored the late Amir with the highest Saudi medal, King Abdulaziz’s Medal.

2004 -- Kuwait’s Bowling Federation Chief Sheikh Talal Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah was elected as Asian Bowling Federation President.

2018 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah inaugurated Al-Jahra Medical City.

2020 -- The cabinet canceled the full quarantine of Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and Mahboula areas, maintaining the infrastructure in case of COVID-19 spread.

2022 -- The International Pharmaceutical Federation picked Dr. Dalal Al-Taweel as assistant dean for student and academic affairs at Kuwait University’s Faculty of Pharmacology among 20 emerging stars in the field of pharmaceutical science and pharmacological education. — KUNA
