KUWAIT: Minister of Social Affairs Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah on Friday affirmed that efforts for developing social care would proceed. Dr. Al-Huwailah, in a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) during her inspection of the new juvenile care complex in Al-Sulaibiya district, said construction of this facility is a significant step forward for enhancing the quality of life for delinquent juveniles and remerging them into the community, in an effective and constructive fashion. The ministry is keen on providing all kinds of care and support for the hosted youth, said Dr. Al-Huwailah, also the Minister of Family and Childhood Affairs and the Minister of State for Youth Affairs, indicating that such a well-equipped facility would provide this segment of the society with comprehensive services. Such a developed center also provides a suitable environment to boost the efforts to alter their behaviors and encourage them to acquire useful hobbies, explained the minister in her remarks to KUNA. Her tour covered several sections including the division of teaching and vocational training, including workshops for training on carpentry, blacksmithing, and tailoring, thus qualifying them to join the work market. The premises include sections for psychological and social support, entertainment sports, and facilities, in addition to the library. Minister Al-Huwailah was accompanied by the acting undersecretary, Dr. Khaled Al-Ajmi, and the assistant undersecretary for social care, Dr. Jassem Al-Kandari. —KUNA
