KUWAIT: 1961 -- The first demonstration by women was held in the State of Kuwait in protest against Iraqi Prime Minister Abdulkareem Qassem’s provocative statements in which he said Iraq would annex Kuwait.
1984 -- A non-governmental center for rehabilitation and education of the child was established with the aim of conducting tests related to psychological and educational aspects of children, as well as training personnel to conduct these tests.
1995 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah signed a decree to establish the Environment Public Authority.
2003 -- Khalifa Al-Qattan, a renowned artist and the first to hold an exhibition in 1953 and another in Italy in 1962, passed away at age of 69. The deceased was one of the founders of Kuwait Arts Association in 1967, and was its first chairman.
2005 -- Kuwait National Assembly, or parliament, approved a bill to write off 2,000 Kuwaiti Dinars (KD) worth of electricity and water bills on every house owned by Kuwaiti nationals. However, if the bill exceeded this amount, the owner of the house shall pay the excess in monthly instalments.
2012 -- State of Kuwait Radio received the second batch of the radio archive stolen by Iraqi forces during invasion and occupation of Kuwait in 1990-91. The batch included 17 boxes containing tapes.
2013 -- Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) signed seven agreements with Morocco to finance development projects in the North African state. The agreements were part of a USD 1.250 billion grant, part of a GCC development assistance program to Morocco. — KUNA
