KUWAIT: Chairman of the Board of Cancer Aware Nation Campaign (CAN) Dr Khalid Al-Saleh congratulated Kuwait’s people, and cancer patients in particular, on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha and wished them a speedy recovery under the leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

Head of Social Service at KCCC Huda Al-Shihab, who organized an Eid tour to visit patients during the holidays said visiting patients and comforting them increases the rate of acceptance of treatment which speeds up recovery. The tour is one of many that CAN has organized over the years, with the organization supporting cancer patients in hospitals or those on treatment. CAN has also organized initiatives such as sports contests and field visits at KCCC and National Bank Children’s Hospital.

Dr Al-Saleh said CAN is keen on implementing the recommendations of the Gulf Week’s coordinating committee, which calls for increase of the rate of preventing cancers to 40 percent, and that is done through the implementation of programs for both healthy people and patients.

As breast cancer is the highest occurring among women in Kuwait, CAN sought through the (lose ... you win) contest to put women on a suitable diet program by contacting a nutritionist who will follow participants and give them nutrition advice to help them reduce their weights. The contest will also have a Haido sports team organizing sports activities from Sunday until Thursday each week during the contest which will be from September 16, 2024, until November 14, 2024. Dr Al-Saleh asked women to register for the free contest through the registration number 60961145.
