Behbehani wins gold, bronze in Slovenia rhythmic gymnastics

KUWAIT: Kuwait’s National Gymnastics team member Abdullah Miqdad Behbehani had an outstanding performance in Salmanov International Championship that concluded Sunday in Maribor City, Slovenia, as he won a gold medal in the vault event and a bronze medal in the bar event.

Head of Kuwait delegation, member of the board of Kuwait Gymnastics Federation Mohammad Al-Daihani said the excellent achievement by Behbehani was after competing with 22 players from (7) developed countries in this game. They are: Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Hungary, Poland, Serbia and Sierra Leone. He said Abdullah Behbehani proved himself strongly in this championship that is sanctioned by the International Federation of the game. He also commended Behbehani for his commitment and his keenness on developing his talent and skills.

Al-Daihani congratulated Abdullah and his family for this win, he also congratulated chairman and board members of the Gymnastics Federation for this new achievement by Kuwait Gymnastics, and appreciated the support of Public Authority for Sport and Kuwait Olympic Committee in all the team’s competitions abroad.

Al-Daihani lauded the positive participation and good performance of Mousa Al-Sahaf, Saud Al-Rudaini, Hussein Dashti and Saud Al-Sinnawi, adding that Salmanov Championship was a suitable opportunity for the players to check their abilities and gain the necessary technical experience.

He said Rhythmic Gymnast Fatima Al-Nama competed well with 46 players from Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, Kosovo, Belgium and Austria. He said she gave a good image about the Rhythmic Gymnastics for girls, bearing in mind this is the first participation by Al-Nama in an international championship at this level.

Mohammad Al-Daihani thanked the players and their parents, coaches Vitali and Mustafa Al-Shafei, administrator Khalid Al-Mithin and commended the efforts of judges Bader Hassan, Salah Askar and Rabab Al-Haris in this championship.
