‘Ladies Diwaniya’ launched

An inspiring, empowering platform for talented, influential women to connect

KUWAIT: The Embassy of France to Kuwait launched, on Wednesday, the first-of-its-kind diplomatic “Ladies Diwaniya” at the French Residence. Ladies Diwaniya gathered Kuwaiti women from diverse fields such as business, politics, the arts, culture, and fashion. During the event, Ambassador of France to Kuwait Claire Le Flecher expressed that her observation of diwaniyas, which traditionally only men attended, inspired her to create a space for women where they could gather to discuss a variety of topics and foster connections among themselves.

She added, “This initiative aims to provide an inspiring and empowering platform for talented and influential women to connect, share their stories, and build robust networks of solidarity.” Held on Wednesday, the event is also a tribute to the vibrant tradition of Kuwaiti diwaniyas.

The ambassador said, “I am always impressed by the high level of generosity and the sense of hospitality that define diwaniyas. These women are not only leaders in their fields but are also examples of excellence in hospitality and lifestyle, organizing beautiful events that reflect a rich cultural taste both shared in Kuwait and France.”

She noted that the gathering is not just about networking; it’s about creating a space where women can speak freely, share their challenges, and celebrate their successes, adding, “The aim is to cultivate a culture of empowerment and resilience, to foster professional and personal growth, and to drive forward positive change in society.”

The French Ambassador Le Flecher indicated that there are regular meetings where remarkable women can exchange ideas, contribute to creating innovative projects, and foster a community of mutual support and mentorship where participants will have the opportunity to inspire and be inspired, drawing strength and motivation from each other’s experiences and achievements.

“We believe that by nurturing these connections and fostering a spirit of collaboration, we can amplify the impact of Kuwaiti women in all sectors, paving the way for future generations to follow in their footsteps,” she pointed out. The next event will be on Wednesday.
