KUWAIT: Kuwait Cabinet was apprised on Monday of the endorsement of the Board of Directors of the Central Agency for Public Tenders to present all practices totaling 18 submitted by the Ministry of Public Works to perform maintenance of roads and highways in various parts nationwide. This was announced in a statement by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sharida Al-Maousherji after the Cabinet meeting held at Seif Palace, under the chairmanship of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
The move comes in implementation of the directives of His Highness the Prime Minister regarding the need to start maintaining the streets, immediately for the sake of motorists, Al-Maousherji said. The Cabinet commended the official celebration of the full operation of the Al-Zour refinery that was held last Wednesday under the patronage and presence of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. It is one of the most important oil refining projects in the world and a qualitative shift in the environmentally friendly oil industry in the path of Kuwait’s sustainable development, he noted.
The Cabinet expressed its sincere appreciation to the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Oil, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, Dr Emad Mohammad Al-Atiqi, and all national cadres who contributed to the completion of this development project. It confirmed Kuwait’s position as one of the most important countries producing oil and its derivatives, under the wise leadership and vision of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
Moreover, the Cabinet was briefed on the report of the National Committee for Anti-Money Laundering and Combating Terrorist Financing regarding the recommendations submitted by the Financial Action Task Force for the Mutual Evaluation of Kuwait (FATF). Being keen to implement all measures to maintain Kuwait’s position, the Cabinet decided to refer the report to the ministerial legal affairs committee to study all topics.
Aligning with eagerness to follow up on carrying out the projects, the Cabinet was informed about a visual presentation on the latest developments regarding the project of establishing and operating Mubarak Al-Kabeer airport. As part of its follow-up to implementing bilateral agreements and memoranda of understanding with China, the Cabinet was briefed on the visual presentation of the executive case of these bilateral agreements and memos.
The Cabinet decided to refer all projects and deals to the economic affairs committee to prepare a report about them. In addition, the Cabinet tasked the Minister of Public Works and the Minister of State for Municipal Affairs Dr Noura Al-Mashaan with taking the required measures regarding changing the names of streets, roads, and squares. Finally, the Cabinet approved the minutes of the meeting of the Supreme Committee for the Investigation of Kuwaiti Citizenship, which include cases of loss and withdrawal of some nationalities, in accordance with the law. — KUNA
