An atmosphere of joy and happiness prevailed among the Kuwaiti people following the issuance of the Amiri decree appointing His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah as Crown Prince. Kuwaitis were delighted with His Highness’ appointment, recalling his years of dedicated service to Kuwait and its people.
HH Sheikh Sabah began his career as a diplomat in the ministry of foreign affairs, eventually becoming head of the National Security Agency. He then rose through the ranks, first as minister of social affairs, then as minister of information, until his appointment in 2011 as minister of foreign affairs, a position he held for eight years before becoming prime minister. Throughout his career, he was known for his honesty, integrity and excellent management skills.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, HH Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled played a crucial role in managing the crisis. While the pandemic caused global confusion and claimed many lives, Kuwait experienced fewer impacts, thanks to his effective management of the Council of Ministers. He risked his life to protect Kuwait from the disaster of the pandemic, being present in the field and personally overseeing the progress of work.
Despite the unprecedented nature of the pandemic, he demonstrated intelligence and skill in management, prioritizing the health of citizens and ensuring there were no shortages of essential medicines, which were delivered to patients at home. His concern for citizens with chronic diseases was evident.
In addition to managing the health crisis, HH Sheikh Sabah adopted distance education to safeguard the academic future of students. Kuwait was one of the first countries to successfully implement remote learning, thanks to His Highness’ foresight and ability to provide the necessary infrastructure.
Internationally, HH Sheikh Sabah is highly regarded for his negotiation skills and political acumen, earning popularity both locally and globally. His good character, modesty and wisdom have saved the country from numerous crises, demonstrating his ability to address thorny issues without causing harm to citizens.
