KUWAIT: Kuwait National Mentally Disabled Badminton team received an outstanding welcome home as the team members came back with three medals one gold, one silver and one bronze in the Gulf Special Olympics Badminton championship that was organized by UAE Special Olympics in cooperation with MENA special Olympics.

Al-Sheikha Sheikha Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah headed officials who received the team along with deputy Chairman of Tomooh club Dherar Al-Rabah, National Director of Special Olympics Rihab Bouresli, Secretary General of Tomooh Club Sadreeqa Al-Ansari, Executive Director of the Club Huda Al-Khaldi, representatives of Public Authority for Sport and families of the players.

Kuwait was represented in the tournament by Mohammad Burabaa, and Fouzan Al-Qassar in the singles and doubles while Sheikha Al-Hindi in the women singles.

The delegation which included Rawan Al-Foudary and Mustafa Hassouna coaches, and Hazim Al-Tarkait as administrator was headed by President of Kuwait Special Olympics Hanaa Al-Zawawi.

The tournament had 25 participants from the six GCC countries. Sheikha Al-Hindi won the gold medal of the women singles, Mohammad Burabaa won the men’s singles bronze medals, while Fouzan Al-Qassar and Mohammad Burabaa won the men’s doubles silver medal.

Al-Sheikha Sheikha Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah lauded the outstanding achievement of our heroes who are mentally challenged and congratulated the players, as well as the technical and administration departments of the Special Olympics and Tomooh Sports Club.

Al-Sheikha Sheikha expressed pleasure at the players continuing to make achievements in all regional and international arenas, and this is due to efforts, perseverance and enthusiasm of players and officials.

Hanaa Al-Zawawi dedicated the achievement to the political leadership, Kuwait people and players families.

She said that all were up to the task and succeeded in presenting an honorable image of the mentally disabled sport. Al-Zawawi thanked players, officials Special Olympics, Tomooh Club and Public Authority for Sport. She also thanked UAE Special Olympics for the good organization and hospitality.
