KUWAIT: Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamiyah celebrated the International Day of Museums on Saturday with the slogan ‘Museums for Education and Scientific Research’. The event focuses on the importance of museums in providing an environment for creativity through the journey of research and learning. In a press release on Friday, the officials invited the public to attend various events and activities dedicated to families and children at the American Cultural Center on Sunday from 2 to 7 pm.

The events began with drawings and photography activities, educational activities specializing in Islamic art, as well as workshops, including Arabic calligraphy, and specialized workshops in museums using the ancient Harvard University curricula. The celebration also included story-reading episodes for children. Guided museum tours will continue throughout the day on Sunday to allow children and their families to explore their creative abilities. It is noteworthy that World Museum Day is celebrated on May 18 every year in coordination with the International Council of Museums (ICOM) to raise public awareness of the leading role of museums in the development of society. — KUNA
