Kuwaiti graduate shines at Weill Cornell University

DOHA: Kuwaiti graduate Dr. Turki Al-Mutairi won first position in the graduating class of 2024 from Weill Cornell Medical University in Qatar. Al-Mutairi, in a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Wednesday after the graduation ceremony held by the university in Doha, expressed his happiness with his academic excellence, winning first place with honors and excellence throughout the years of study at the university.

He joined the university in 2018 as part of a program consisting of six academic years, including two years of pre-medicine, pointing out that he chose to specialize in anesthesiology after graduating from the university. He indicated that he is scheduled to enroll this summer in the residency program for doctors (American Board) in anesthesiology.

Al-Mutairi dedicated his academic excellence to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and to the Kuwaiti people and the state of Qatar, where he studied. For his part, ambassador of Kuwait to Qatar Khalid Al-Mutairi, in a similar statement to KUNA, expressed his happiness that Dr. Turki Al-Mutairi received honors and excelled throughout his years of study.

He added that this is not strange for Kuwaitis, as they have always recorded achievements and climbed to the podium in all forums, whether local, regional, or international. Ambassador Al-Mutairi expressed his thanks and appreciation to Kuwait’s wise leadership for taking care of students abroad. He also expressed his thanks to the Cultural Office in Dubai.

During the graduation ceremony, Dr. Al-Mutairi received many awards, namely academic excellence in the fields of health, fatigue, and illness; excellence in patient care and the medical profession; and excellence in professional brilliance in the basic science curriculum. He also received excellence awards in anesthesia, resuscitation, critical cases, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, surgery, and the clinical curriculum.
