Burgan Bank sponsors Kuwaiti students’ UK football match

Under the umbrella of its partnership with Bristol Rovers Academy in Kuwait

KUWAIT: In line with its committed strategy for bolstering the sports culture in Kuwait, Burgan Bank recently sponsored the participation of Kuwaiti students in the football match between the Universities of Bristol and the West of England, which was hosted by the Bristol Rovers Football Academy at Memorial Stadium. This comes as part of Burgan Bank’s expansive social responsibility program and its sponsorship of the Bristol Rovers Football Academy.

Commenting on the bank’s latest sports-focused activities, Talal AlAyar, Senior Officer – Corporate and CSR Communications at Burgan Bank, said: “Watching our Kuwaiti students from both Universities of Bristol and the West of England perform with such finesse on the field was such an honor and a reminder of the positive impact that our dedicated social responsibility program has on our community members, both inside and outside of Kuwait.

Thanks to the collaborative efforts of Bristol Rovers Football Academy and the Students Association of Kuwait, we were able to successfully sponsor the Kuwaiti college students’ game, which witnessed the attendance of many Kuwaiti students from both universities, inspiring them to reach for the stars in their own athletic journeys.”

AlAyar underscored the importance of sports in the upbringing of children, teenagers, and young adults, as it instills precious values such as commitment, perseverance, collaboration, discipline, and ownership in their characters.

On his part, Abdulaziz Alroomi, Head of Bristol Rovers Football Academy, said: “At the Bristol Rovers Football Academy, we see participants walk in every day, eager to grow into celebrated stars and recognized athletes. While each player’s dedication and level of focus contribute to the speed at which they develop, one very important factor of influence is the amount of support they receive in their environments, especially at home. That’s why, I would like to extend my thanks to Burgan Bank for the unwavering support that they offer the Academy and all of its participants, ensuring that all aspiring athletes are on a healthy trajectory of physical, mental, and emotional growth and maturity.”

Adding to the values of sports, Burgan Bank seized the opportunity of its on-ground presence among its UK-based community members and handed out “Let’s Be Aware” (Diraya) campaign brochures, which aimed to spread vital information about financial literacy and banking awareness – matters that students abroad need to be aware of for a smoother transition toward their financial independence. It serves to note that Burgan Bank continues to uphold its support for the “Diraya” banking awareness campaign in its fourth consecutive year, under the supervision of the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) and the Kuwait Banking Association (KBA), and with the unanimous support of Kuwaiti banks.

As a constant champion of the advancement of the sports sector in Kuwait, Burgan Bank continues to spare no effort to support individuals, teams, and institutions in their missions for achieving athletic growth and success. As per its dedicated social responsibility program, Burgan has previously sponsored notable sporting events, such as Flare Festival, aspiring athletic talents, including Olympians and world champions, as well as teams and organizations, ranging from the Kuwaiti national padel team to the Kuwait Women’s Football League (KWFL).
