ShareGAZA: Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) provided 75,000 hot meals to the Gaza healthcare sector on Tuesday, including food parcels and meats to all areas, in support of the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and in cooperation with the WAFA Foundation for Development in Palestine. Muhaisen Atawneh, WAFA Director General and the relief project implementer, told KUNA that several meals were distributed in the Gaza Strip, including provisions for doctors and healthcare workers at various hospitals.
These included the Kuwaiti Hospital in Rafah, the Nasser Complex, the European Hospital in Khan Yunis, and Shuhada Al-Aqsa Hospital in the central area of the strip. Atawneh also confirmed that hot meals will continue to be distributed to doctors for a full month due to food shortages resulting from the ongoing war in Gaza, extending support to the northern areas of the strip as well.
Atawneh also reported that 22 tons of meat were distributed to North Gaza, along with 10,000 food parcels distributed to all governorates, in addition to tons of medicines and medical devices delivered to hospitals. WAFA, also in cooperation with KRCS, has provided “Iftar meals” throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
Medical team arrives
Meanwhile, the second medical delegation of the Kuwait Relief Society arrived in Gaza on Tuesday via the Rafah crossing, carrying seven tons of aid to support the Palestinian health system in the Strip. The Vice President of the Society, Omar Al-Thuwaini, said that the medical team arrived at the Rafah land crossing and consisted of 17 people, including 14 of the Kuwaiti national medical staff, including a consultant, specialist, and nurse in several delicate and urgent medical and surgical specialties, in addition to the person in charge of the team and two relief coordinators.
Al-Thuwaini noted that the Kuwait Relief Society team arrived with seven tons of necessary medical equipment and supplies to contribute to supporting the health system in the Gaza Strip and to provide the necessary tools for surgical operations, medical care, and medications, especially for some critical cases and chronic diseases.
He also affirmed that the Kuwaiti team is to perform a number of important surgical operations in some surgical specialties, in addition to implementing some other relief projects, most notably food and shelter projects. Since the beginning of the aggression on the Gaza Strip, various Kuwaiti delegations and aid have arrived via air bridges to support the Palestinian people. — KUNA
