Myanmar envoy applauds KRCS’ humanitarian efforts

KUWAIT: Myanmar Ambassador to Kuwait, U Chan Aye, acclaimed on Wednesday the Kuwait Red Crescent Society’s (KRCS) efforts in supporting humanity and relief work around the world. This came in a statement for KUNA after his meeting with Deputy Chairman of KRCS Anwar Al-Hasawi, who said that KRCS is a pioneer in providing relief services for many parts of the world, expressing his appreciation for these exceptional efforts to relieve those affected by natural disasters and humanitarian crises.

He added that the meeting discussed ways of enhancing cooperation with KRCS and coordination with the Myanmar Red Cross Society (MRCS) that would benefit both countries. On his part, Al-Hasawi welcomed the Ambassador’s visit to KRCS headquarters to be briefed on its efforts, mechanisms, and achievements. He expressed his willingness to strengthen the partnership between the two sides in order to achieve the goals of KRCS in providing support and aid to those in need. He pointed out that both sides discussed ways of reinforcing cooperation between the KRCS and all humanitarian authorities in Myanmar in all fields.

Campaign in Sudan

Meanwhile, Kuwaiti Ambassador to Sudan Fahad Al-Thafeeri launched on Wednesday a humanitarian campaign in partnership with Kuwait’s Patient Helping Fund Society and Sudanese Red Crescent Society (SRC), aimed at helping displaced people in Sudan’s eastern Red Sea State. Al-Thafeeri said in his remarks to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that this is part of Kuwait’s responsibility towards assisting Sudan and its people in the bigger campaign which was launched after the war and successfully sent 18 aid planes carrying hundreds of tons of medical supplies and essential human aid.

The aid will flow in accordance with priorities and needs that were designated by Sudan’s authorities after holding meetings with the Kuwaiti embassy, said Al-Thafeeri. SRC president Khalil Serebal voiced his appreciation on behalf of the Sudanese people for the efforts and aid that Kuwait provided, saying that Kuwait is no stranger to this internationally commended humanitarian role. — KUNA
