Palestinian cause remains a central Arab issue: Kuwait

DOHA: The just Palestinian cause remains the central Arab issue, affirmed Kuwait’s Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, stating that the Zionist entity and its continuous violations are the driving factors behind the failure to adopt sustainable solutions. Ambassador Al-Sabah addressed the third session of the Arab Economic and Cooperation Forum with Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan in Doha on Tuesday.

He called on the international community to adhere to its responsibilities and put an end to the systemic crimes against Palestinians. The Kuwaiti diplomat also urged the Security Council to safeguard international peace and security, address the cause of escalation, provide protection to Palestinians against forced eviction, and guarantee the flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza. Once again, Kuwait asserts its unwavering stance on the legitimate rights of Palestinians and their right to just and comprehensive peace, based on international legitimacy rules and Arab peace initiatives.

The Ambassador spoke of Kuwaiti efforts to boost cooperation and augment exchanged benefits in the region to achieve integration and arrive at a realistic, implementable economic plan. Concluding his statement, Ambassador Al-Sabah took time to highlight the Kuwait 2035 vision and its efforts in achieving sustainable development goals. He stated that a number of national programs for developing human resources, nationalizing technology, and supporting a more sustainable economy have been approved.

Ambassador Al-Sabah also mentioned that Kuwait is following with interest a number of regional and international issues, including combating terrorism and extremism and freedom of maritime navigation as per international law stipulations. In attendance at the session were Qatari Minister of Industry and Commerce, Mohammad bin Qassim Al-Thani, Ministers of Arab and Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan, and Arab League Secretary General, Ahmad Abulghiet.

Medical teams arrive in Gaza

In another development, the second medical delegation of the Kuwait Relief Society arrived in Gaza on Tuesday via the Rafah crossing, carrying seven tons of aid to support the Palestinian health system in the Strip. The Vice President of the Society, Omar Al-Thuwaini, said that the medical team arrived at the Rafah land crossing and consisted of 17 people, including 14 of the Kuwaiti national medical staff, including a consultant, specialist, and nurse in several delicate and urgent medical and surgical specialties, in addition to the person in charge of the team and two relief coordinators.

Al-Thuwaini noted that the Kuwait Relief Society team arrived with seven tons of necessary medical equipment and supplies to contribute to supporting the health system in the Gaza Strip and to provide the necessary tools for surgical operations, medical care, and medications, especially for some critical cases and chronic diseases.

He also affirmed that the Kuwaiti team is to perform a number of important surgical operations in some surgical specialties, in addition to implementing some other relief projects, most notably food and shelter projects. Since the beginning of the Zionist aggression on the Gaza Strip, various Kuwaiti delegations and aid have arrived via air bridges to support the Palestinian people. — KUNA
