KUWAIT: The Public Authority of Manpower (PAM) held a workshop to mark the World Day of Occupational Health and Safety under the slogan “Towards a Safe Work Environment.” The Acting Deputy Director General of Planning and Administrative Development, Eng. Rabab Al-Osaimi, welcomed the attendees in a speech and thanked them for their cooperation and keenness to ensure safety for workers in various sectors by providing a safe and healthy working environment.
She stressed the importance of occupational health and safety and its impact on industry and economic growth, stressing that public safety is no less important than increasing productivity and quality and reducing costs. Al-Osaimi pointed out that the Authority is advanced in the use of technology, as most of the current services have been converted to electronic services. She advised business owners to follow the latest technological developments in the field of health and safety systems.
The Chairman of the Standing Committee for the Link and Coordination between the Public Authority of Manpower, civil society institutions, and public benefit associations, Aseel Al-Mazyad, praised the fruitful cooperation between the Authority, the Committee, the government, and private associations. She stated that the main objective of this celebration is to reach the largest possible number of stakeholders and professionals in the field of occupational health and safety. “We aim to share experiences on the concept of occupational safety and health and provide opportunities to exchange ideas and successful experiences in this field,” she added.
On the sidelines of the event, workshops consisting of seven points were held and presented by several entities, namely: the Public Authority of Manpower, the Fire Force, the Ministry of Health, the Kuwait Oil Company, the Federation of Kuwait Industries, the Kuwait Human Rights Society, and Takween Training and Consulting Company. The workshops are aimed at demonstrating the role of the authorities in the field of occupational safety and health.
And also the establishment of an exhibition specializing in occupational safety and health. Each of the Ministry of Health, the Kuwait Society for Human Rights, the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, Kuwait Insurance Company, Jawad Al-Saffar Store, Al-Qatami Fire Station, Alghanim International Company, Munad Flowers, and government agencies, private companies, and public benefit associations were invited, and the number of attendees was more than a hundred government and private agencies.
The Public Authority of Manpower plans to hold a celebration at The Avenues on the occasion of International Labor Day, which falls on May 1 of each year, in cooperation with the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the General Federation of Kuwait Workers.
In another development, Public Authority of Manpower held another seminar themed “Evacuation and sheltering plan of critical crises, under ordinary and emergency conditions.” The program was held on Monday at the Authority’s theater. The seminar is aimed at training participants on how to prepare evacuation and sheltering plan and to take action during emergency events as well as ordinary and urgent crises. The Authority thanked those responsible for the training course.
