Kuwait Special Olympics holds medical tests

KUWAIT: Kuwait Special Olympics carried out medical tests for its players within the “healthy societies” program that is being carried out by the Special Olympics in 2024. The tests that were done over two days included the mouth, teeth and healthy nutrition at Tomooh Club clinic, as several students were examined by a selected groups of doctors approved by the International Special Olympics including doctors Yousuf Al-Awadhi, Ahmad Arif, Shireen Abdulsalam and (5) volunteer doctors from the center, as four cases were referred to the specialized health centers, as instructed by the healthy societies program.

In all 47 players were tested at the healthy nutrition clinic under the supervision of specialist Dalal Buhamdi, who is accredited by the International Special Olympics along with 15 volunteers and Tomooh Club coaches, as tests included measuring height, weight, BMI and blood pressure.

The National Director of Kuwait Special Olympics Rihab Buresli said the examination aimed at finding out the health and physical efficiency of the players to give them the healthy pattern of life, that qualify them to practice their sport with high efficiency and to bring out the best in them during sport events.

She said this test comes within the healthy societies program that concerned with dealing with health challenges the special needs players face through societal solutions. She added the program works on enhancing care and prevention programs to improve health conditions and deal with what they may face in the form of health problems through several programs that were carried out by Kuwait Special Olympics over six years most notably players testing program, healthy families gathering, enhancing physical fitness programs in addition to the programs of qualifying specialists in the fields of the health program.
