KUWAIT: Prime Minister-designate Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah on Sunday took the constitutional oath before HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to become the Deputy Amir. HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal earlier signed a decree appointing Sheikh Ahmad as Deputy Amir while he is abroad.
The Amiri decree states that this designation would remain valid until the naming of a Crown Prince, and that the prime minister should comply with this decree and inform the National Assembly. The Amiri order takes effect once published in the official gazette.
Caretaker Prime Minister HH Sheikh Dr Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, who declined to form the new Cabinet, was also appointed Deputy Amir soon after his appointment as prime minister three months ago.
HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal also received at Bayan Palace on Sunday the president of the Supreme Judicial Council and the court of cassation Dr Adel Majed Bouresli. HH the Amir also hosted at Bayan Palace Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Acting Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah.
