Indian Embassy opens consular center in Jahra

KUWAIT: Indian Ambassador Dr Adarsh Swaika inaugurated a new Indian consular application center (ICAC) at Jahra, Kuwait on April 1, 2024. The new ICAC will also be managed by embassy’s outsourcing partner BLS International. The Jahra ICAC will be the 4th such ICAC in Kuwait.

The other three are in Kuwait city, Fahaheel and Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, a press release issued by the Indian Embassy said. Starting from April 1, 2024, the consular, passport and visa services will operate at Building No 27, Al-Khalifa Building, 2nd floor, Office 3 & 14, Block No 93, Jahra from Saturday to Thursday (9am to 2pm).

The Jahra ICAC is another step towards facilitating Indian visas for Kuwaitis as well as various consular services for Indian nationals including amnesty-related travel documents residing in areas of Jahra and its neighboring areas up to Abdali.

The new facility is expected to further streamline the application process, reduce waiting time, and ensure a seamless experience for all applicants. It is part of Indian government’s steadfast commitment to make public services more accessible, hassle-free and technology-driven, the release added.

It may be noted that the number of Kuwaiti visitors to India have been increasing over the years. The Embassy issues multiple-entry Indian tourist visas generally within a day to Kuwaiti and third country nationals. In the year 2023, around 10,000 visas were issued by the embassy. For more information and updates on the services offered at the new Consular Application Centre, please visit Embassy’s official website (www.indembkwt.gov.in) or website of M/s BLS (www.blsinternational.com/india/kuwait/).
