AI-powered drones to play key role in strategic developmental projects

KUWAIT: Zain has presented a project for the inspection of major roads in Kuwait to the Ministry of Public Works. The company has contributed to executing and delivering this project, which represents the first phase of the full inspection and evaluation of the nation’s entire road network.

Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs Dr Noura Al-Meshaan welcomed Zain Vice Chairman and Group CEO Bader Nasser Al-Kharafi at her office, joined by officials from the Ministry of Public Works and the Zain executive management team. During the visit, Zain delivered the project and introduced the ministry to the key role that can be played by AI-powered drone systems to implement strategic developmental projects.

The first phase of the project included the inspection and evaluation of 1,000 kilometers of major roads and bridges across Kuwait, as well as providing high resolution aerial data, images, and videos. Using drones for road inspection enhances the quality and safety of road maintenance, reduces time and effort, and helps with higher accuracy by automating the scanning process. Using drones also results in more accurate mapping of the road network and provides detailed 3D models for roads and bridges.

In addition, drones can highly contribute to reducing operational costs, offering measurable, high quality visual data, reducing human error, and accelerating progress, supervision, and monitoring. This initiative will contribute to support the ministry in presenting public tenders to suppliers for executing better road maintenance projects.

Leveraging its fleet of drones, Zain offers many innovative applications and solutions to serve the needs of governments and enterprises. With drone-powered solutions, the company offers limitless opportunities for all industries to make the most out of technologies such as Internet of Things and artificial intelligence.
