Kuwait’s Sadiqa Al-Ansari elected VP of Special Olympics Council

KUWAIT: Kuwait’s candidate Sadiqa Al-Ansari won the Vice Presidency of the first leading council of families of Special Olympics Athletes, during the elections that were held in Cairo with 10 Arab countries in attendance.

Al-Ansari appreciated the members’ confidence in her and electing her to participate in leading the council for the next two years. She said this confidence reflects the appreciation Kuwait Special Olympics experience enjoys, especially in regards to encouraging the family’s role and its active participation in supporting the players, and provide them the suitable environment to allow them to continue making significant achievements.

Al-Ansari thanked the regional Special Olympics headed by the regional Special Olympics president for MENA Eng Ayman Abdelwahab, and thanked all colleagues in the council, lecturers and organizers. She said the conference included several lectures and discussions about the strategy of Special Olympics, societal inclusion, unified school champions initiative, living skills training, personal protection of players and the importance of sports in the life of the special needs people.

The council elections resulted in Bahrain’s Nazek Marhoun as President, Sadiqa Al-Ansari as Vice President, while Saif Ali bin Smaide from UAE, Rahaf Al-Bishri from Saudi Arabia, Abeer Al-Bougha and Noura Ahmad from Egypt, Maha Al-Masarwa from Jordan, Lamya Zabeeb from Lebanon, Naeema Haddadi from Morocco, Mariam Karkar from Algeria and Haleema Al-Beloushiya from Oman as members.
