KUWAIT: In honor of the forthcoming 53rd anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Kuwait, established on the 22nd of this month, the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait hosted the Chinese Culture and Food Festival on Saturday.
During his opening speech, Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait Zhang Jianwei emphasized the significant progress achieved in the bilateral relationship between China and Kuwait in recent years. He particularly highlighted the year 2022, when President Xi Jinping and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah reached a broad consensus on deepening practical cooperation across various sectors.
Ambassador Zhang expressed confidence that under their guidance, the China-Kuwait strategic partnership in the new era will experience further growth opportunities.
In an interview with Kuwait Times, Ambassador Zhang underscored the ongoing efforts of China and Kuwait to implement the cooperation agreements signed during His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s visit to China in September last year. He stressed the significance of this cooperation as it will mutually benefit both nations across various fields which will include large-scale projects aimed at deepening and strengthening the ties between China and Kuwait.
Ambassador Zhang also emphasized the importance of continuous communication between the nations, serving as the cornerstone for the development of political, economic, and trade relations.
"Exchanges enrich civilizations, and mutual learning fosters prosperity,” Zhang remarked. He highlighted that guided by President Xi Jinping’s Global Civilization Initiative, China remains steadfast in its commitment to collaborate with Kuwait and other nations, deepening exchanges and cooperation in cultural and people-to-people domains. "This endeavor actively contributes to the establishment of a community with a shared future for humanity,” Ambassador Zhang concluded.
During the festival, the Chinese Embassy provided a platform for the renewal of traditional friendship and the deepening of mutual understanding between the two countries by showcasing Chinese culture and cuisine. Ambassador Zhang emphasized that while the festival offers a glimpse into Chinese culture, the true richness of their country is best experienced firsthand. He warmly invited the audience to visit China to immerse themselves and truly appreciate its beauty and diversity.
