Kuwait Science Club organizes its 10th Science and Engineering Competition

KUWAIT: Sheikh Ahmad Al-Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah opened the 10th Kuwait Science and Engineering Competition Exhibition, held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah and the participation of 83 scientific research and engineering designs under the slogan “Capable and More”. The competition aims to promote scientific research and innovation amongst students before entering the college. Public and private schools participated in showcasing the capabilities of their young researchers in this competition, which provides a sound competitive environment that satisfies young scientists’ interest.

Upon cutting the ribbon at the exhibition’s opening, Sheikh Ahmad, accompanied by Talal Jassem Al-Kharafi, Chairman of Kuwait Science Club, and board members, greeted the judges. They then toured the exhibition to learn about the science projects displayed.

Kharafi said the competition is a testament to the vision and strategy of the board of Kuwait Science Club in activating the national program to support young researchers and innovators, adding the club has been organizing the Kuwait Science and Engineering Competition since 2012, besides holding workshops and free courses for both teachers and students in public schools to prepare them for participating and competing.

Kharafi added that a seven-month training program is provided to prepare Kuwaiti students to participate in several Arab and international forums, such as the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) held in the United States, which is the most important globally. He concluded by saying this work is not easy, as Kuwait Science Club faces several challenges, but it has been able to overcome them through determination, perseverance and teamwork. Kharafi thanked Sheikh Ahmad for honoring the event with his presence on behalf of HH Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah.
