Burgan Bank sponsors immersive ‘Graish’ show ahead of Ramadan

KUWAIT: In celebration of the holy month of Ramadan, Burgan Bank concluded its sponsorship of “Graish”, an original musical performance by Free Jabriya Productions. The show, which took place at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmed Cultural Centre (JACC) between February 28 and March 2, was a huge success with sold out performances and almost 7,000 people in attendance. The Bank’s sponsorship of the show comes as part of its comprehensive social responsibility program and continued support of community events and collaborations, as well as its year-long sponsorship of Free Jabriya Productions.

“We are proud and delighted to be partnering with Free Jabriya yet again, for the second year in a row now,” said Hessa Hussain Al-Najadah, Senior Manager - Corporate and CSR Communications at Burgan Bank, commenting on the Bank’s sponsorship and the show’s notable success. “This group has proven itself to be a changemaker in the local cultural scene, producing high-level art pieces with each one of their productions.

Our collaboration with Free Jabriya is set to include several remarkable shows throughout the year, with ‘Graish’ leading the way. This event is an evening of engaging musical theatre that captures the most iconic Ramadan traditions and values of our society, and the four performances were met with warmth and enthusiasm from the audience, especially during the entertainment segments that captured the nostalgic memories of Ramadan.

Many members of the audience also exhibited other forms of engagement with the show, such as choosing to come dressed in traditional Kuwaiti attire, which includes darra’as and dishdashas, to match the traditional ‘Graish’ theme. Through our sponsorships and collaborations, we aim to uphold our support for the young and aspiring talents, whom we believe have a special and unique mark to leave on our community through their original artwork. We also aim to continue actively supporting and reinforcing the entertainment sector in Kuwait, which is an essential part of our expansive social responsibility program.”

“We are delighted to announce the establishment of a robust partnership with Burgan Bank, originating from our unprecedented collaboration on ‘Feykom Tarab: A Night with Miami,’” said Ali Al-Nusif, Executive Producer and Co-Founder at Free Jabriya. “’Graish’ marks the commencement of our joint endeavors this year, with Burgan Bank’s participation extending to further production throughout the year. We trust that this collaboration will yield significant benefits for all stakeholders involved.

Together, we stand poised to embark on an exciting journey characterized by creativity, innovation, and shared success.” The “Graish” show captures the iconic Kuwaiti Ramadan traditions in amazing detail, beginning with the unique idea that the show’s director, Fahad Al-Rahmani, presented, all the way to the costume design and the representation of media icons whom the audience have regarded as symbols of Kuwait.

Throughout the two-hour show, the audience were immersed in the authentic Kuwaiti Ramadan atmosphere, as well as enjoyed numerous surprises and comedic segments that reenact some staple TV shows, songs, and situations that capture the Ramadan traditions throughout the past decades. The audience were also very engaged with the orchestra, led by the maestro Ahmad Aloud. “Graish” left a positive and memorable impact through its cultural and social richness.

The wide success of “Graish” follows the echoing success of “Feykom Tarab: Five Nights in the World of Miami”, which was also produced by Free Jabriya and sponsored by Burgan Bank in September 2023. It serves to note that Burgan Bank’s unyielding commitment to the development of the arts, culture and entertainment sectors in Kuwait begins with supporting young and aspiring national talents and extends to supporting, sponsoring, and collaborating with leading entities that continue to center their efforts on preserving the cultural heritage of Kuwait and paving the path for a more vibrant national art scene.
