Govt attaches priority to strategic sectors: Deputy PM

KUWAIT: His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Dr Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah received Thursday separately at Bayan Palace the president and members of ISSNAD Urban Development Company, Kuwait University Faculty Association, Kuwaiti Society of Lawyers, Kuwait National Integrity Society, and the supreme supervisory committee of the 23rd national conference: “From Kuwait We Start and in Kuwait We End”.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority Mohammad Al-Otaibi confirmed that the members of the Board of Directors of the Association met with HH the Prime Minister to discuss many topics in the field of integrity and combating corruption. Al-Otaibi said in a statement that this visit comes after the announcement of the result of the Corruption Perceptions Index for the year 2023, in which the State of Kuwait advanced from previous years.

His Highness the Prime Minister listened to several issues raised in the local community, commending the constructive ideas and proposals put forward during the meetings by specialists, which are in the best interest of the nation and its citizens.

The Kuwaiti government attaches much significance to strategic sectors, mainly including civil aviation, Deputy Prime Minister, Defense Minister and Acting Interior Minister Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah affirmed Thursday. The minister made the remark to KUNA during his meeting with Directorate General of Civil Aviation board members, adding that the country’s civil aviation development coincides with government’s plans to develop the capabilities of this vital sector.

The new Terminal 2 of Kuwait Airport is paid much attention by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Dr Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, he added.

Separately, Kuwaiti Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya met on Thursday with Director General of the Foreign Ministry’s West Asia and North Africa Department Wang Di on the occasion of his official visit and his accompanying delegation to Kuwait. They discussed the deep-rooted friendly relations between China and Kuwait at all levels and mutual cooperation in the context of existing strategic partnership, as well as joint coordination to serve common interests at various international forums. During the meeting, they tackled the latest developments at regional and intentional levels, including updates in the Gaza Strip. Ongoing efforts to end the demarcation of the maritime borders between Kuwait and Iraq were also discussed during the meeting. — KUNA
