Gynecologists to get training in AI technology

KUWAIT: Head of Gynecology and Obstetrics Department at Jahra Hospital Dr Hanan Al-Husseini said future plans include training in artificial intelligence technology and qualify them to deal with expected changes in the future.

She said in a press statement that within the recommendations of the 26th Gynecology and Obstetrics conference that “we seek to apply artificial intelligence in several specialties such as test tube babies, mother and fetal science, follow up pregnant woman during delivery and advanced gynecological endoscopy”.

She said that among the recommendations is the study of telemedicine which allows contacts with international expertise and present medical services remotely in the field of training, treatment and the use of AI. Dr Al-Husseini said that among the recommendations is the necessary cautious gradual introduction of the use of AI in various women specialties while affirming non-reliance on it at the present time and rely on the human element which is the foundation of healthcare.

She said that President of the Islamic Organization for Medical Sciences Dr Mohammad Al-Jarallah and Dr Khalid Al-Mathkour contributed to the preparation of AI uses recommendations, and they affirmed that it is not possible to dispense with and should be relied on in taking sharia (legal), ethical and medical decision and technology must not be singled out to take medical and health decisions.
