The Contemporary Art Platform (CAP) exhibited the works of Bahraini artist Khalid Farhan on Tuesday. Farhan, a graduate from Cairo, told Kuwait Times his artistic journey started from drawing, later extending to exploring sculpture. Being in Africa during his studies, he gained interest in African art, alongside the significance of the Egyptian pharaonic civilization representing a vast portion of the world’s ancientness.

In Bahrain, where Farhan hails from, sculpture artists were very few, making it a unique field for him to pursue. Farhan presents abstract art that may be challenging to comprehend, as its beauty lies in its concept and not in its outside appearance. Farhan also said he is presenting this exhibition under the title: "A Tribute to Adam Henien”, who used to be his teacher during his years of study.

This is Farhan’s second time curating such an event. The initial exhibition took place in Bahrain and was a great success. With this exhibition, Farhan said he has selectively chosen Henien’s most significant works and interpreted them in his own artistic style. While Henien specialized in three-dimensional art, Farhan explores the realm of two-dimensional art, achieving success through his connection and simplification techniques. Furthermore, Farhan’s use of sheet sculpture sets his work apart, as only a few artists attempt this technique. The essence of his artistic practice revolves around renewal, change and continuous development.
