Kuwait committed to renewable energy, sustainable future

KUWAIT: Kuwait is committed to expanding its renewable energy projects, Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy Dr Salem Al-Hajraf said. The target is to use a minimum of 15 percent of electricity at prime time from renewable sources by 2030, noted Al-Hajraf, who doubles as state minister for housing affairs, in a press release marking International Clean Energy Day.

Hajraf stressed the intent to accelerate the implementation of the Al-Shaqaya Renewable Energy Project, with a production capacity of 4,500 megawatts through solar energy, leading to a sustainable future for the country. The UN General Assembly adopted January 26 of each year as International Clear Energy Day, which is concerned with promoting awareness around the world by working for a complete transition to clean energy. — KUNA
