KUWAIT: Dr Huda Al-Sahhaf, Consultant of Internal Medicine and Clinical Hematology at Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital, confirmed the hospital’s keenness to present the latest scientific findings in the fields of internal medicine treatment and its specialties according to the latest international protocols. Dr Al-Sahhaf said in her speech during the opening of the first annual scientific conference of Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital on Thursday that the two-day conference attracted a number of experts and shed light on the latest medical developments in internal medicine and its specialties that will improve the medical system in Kuwait.
The conference includes 11 workshops dealing with practical clinical aspects to help doctors practice their jobs and refine their skills through direct discussion with other experts. The conference is the culmination of dedication, experience, and a joint commitment to advancing the boundaries of internal medicine. She pointed out the importance of the conference and its role in raising medical awareness about the latest developments in internal medicine.
Participants discussed the latest developments in internal medicine and exchanged experience through scientific sessions and medical lectures on the importance of early treatment and diagnosis. They also discussed the latest developments in the treatment of internal diseases and reviewed the opinions of a number of consultants to raise awareness among health practitioners.
The conference sheds light on a number of themes on various diseases and presents the latest developments in techniques and methods of treatment in internal medicine, addressing the comprehensive care model and health transformation plans for treatment programs. For his part, Consultant Endocrinologist and Diabetes and Head of the Endocrinology Unit at Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital, Dr. Thamer Al-Issa, said that the conference includes many medical specialties, including respiratory diseases, asthma, chronic diseases, diabetes, and endocrinology. Dr. Al-Issa added that diabetes is one of the diseases prevalent in Kuwait. In addition to the associated diseases, complications, and treatment methods, the conference witnessed specialized lectures that highlighted medical recommendations, specifically in the specialty of endocrinology.
Specialist in diabetes and endocrinology at Jaber Hospital, Dr. Nawal Al-Otaibi, said in her speech that Kuwait has recently witnessed the spread of the use of injections and their excellent effectiveness in reducing sugar levels and weight, but medical advice must be obtained before the usage due to the side effects. Al-Otaibi explained that this drug is useful for patients with diabetes and overweight.
She pointed to the development of cholesterol treatments to include a needle taken every two weeks instead of pills, which were provided by the Ministry of Health, pointing to their positive effects in reducing cholesterol levels as well as the lack of side effects.
The head of the educational committee at Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital, Dr. Huda Al-Baloul, said that a committee was established in 2022 to provide medical lectures to doctors in various specialties. Al-Baloul pointed out that the committee is the first of its kind in Kuwait and aims primarily to shed light on post-COVID developments and associated diseases, including clinical ulcers, surgeries, bleeding, and strokes.—KUNA
