Kuwait wins 4 medals in Asian Shotgun Championship

KUWAIT: Competitions of Asian Shotgun Championship, Kuwait 2024 being held at Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex concluded with the finals of the skeet mixed doubles. Kuwait was able to win four medals in addition to having two quota qualifications for Paris 2024 Olympics.

President of Kuwait and Arab Shooting Federations, Chairman of the Higher Organizing Committee Eng. Duaij Al-Otaibi said the Asian Championship succeeded in reaching its goals both in organization at the highest level, and strong competitions between Asia’s International Champions.

He said Kuwait gave the best example in organizing championships, and there was no complaints from the teams of the 26 participating countries which is something to the credit of the organizing committee. Al-Otaibi congratulated the political leadership for the qualification of shooter Mohammad Al-Daihani for Paris 2024 Olympics following fierce competition and was able to win the bronze medal.

Al-Otaibi said Kuwait will participate in the skeet and trap competitions in the Paris 2024 Olympics and will fight hard to make more achievements as Kuwait shooting has done in previous Olympics. Al-Otaibi thanked HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Dr Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, Kuwait Olympic Committee and its President Sheikh Fahad Naser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and Public Authority for Sport and its Director General Yousuf Al-Baidan.

Meanwhile Secretary General of Arab and Kuwait Shooting Federations, tournament director Obaid Al-Osaimi congratulated the political leadership and Kuwait people for the qualification of shooter Mohammad Al-Daihani for the Olympics, as well as for winning the bronze medal, adding that this is yet another achievement for Kuwait Shooting.

He said Kuwait still hopes for more qualifications during the world championship to be held in April in Doha, Qatar. He said the Asian Championship was highly competitive at the highest of levels, while the referees ensured justice during competitions adding that Kuwait is able to host major shooting championships with unprecedented success.

Shooter Al-Daihani said qualifying to Paris was due to extra efforts during training and competition, adding that this is the crowing of collective work by Kuwait Shooting Sport Federation.
