Daihani qualifies for Paris Olympics

KUWAIT: Kuwait secured its second qualification spot for the Paris 2024 Olympics, thanks to shooter Mohammad Nayef Al-Daihani. He clinched third place in the men’s individual skeet competition at the Asian Shotgun Championship, with Chinese Taipei’s Lee Meng Yuan taking first place and India’s Naruka Anant Jeet Singh securing second place. In the women’s skeet, China’s Gao Jinmei claimed first place and India’s Raiza Dhilon secured second place, earning both shooters spots in the upcoming Paris Olympics.

India’s Maheswari Chauhan took the third spot. Sunday marks the final day of the Asian Shotgun Championship held at Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex, featuring participation from 26 countries. The concluding competition will be the skeet mixed doubles.

Meanwhile, Prince Khalid bin Bandar bin Musaed Al-Saud, Deputy President of the Saudi Federation and Asian Shooting Confederation, expressed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to strong participation in Asian and international competitions.

He praised the Asian Shotgun Championship in Kuwait as a significant event, highlighting the exceptional organization at the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex and the participation of formidable Asian shooting teams, all contributing to qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Prince Khalid noted the impressive performance of Saudi shooters, emphasizing the federation’s dedication to continuous improvement and achieving desired results.

He acknowledged the support of Sports Minister and President of the Shooting Federation Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal. Prince Khalid commended the efforts of President of ASC Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah and President of Kuwait and Arab Shooting Federations Duaij Al-Otaibi for their meticulous organization and attention to detail.
