Asian Basketball for Disabled elects Shafi Al-Hajri as president

KUWAIT: The General Assembly of the Asian Wheelchair Basketball Confederation for the Disabled on Thursday recommended the representative of the State of Kuwait Shafi Al-Hajri as President of the Confederation of the Continental Federation for the next four years, at its meeting held in the Thai capital Bangkok with the participation of representatives of national associations in the continent.

He explained that the elections that took place on the sidelines of Thailand’s hosting of the final qualifiers for the game qualifying for the next Olympic Games to be held in Paris next summer were characterized by a good atmosphere and constructive cooperation, expressing his deep thanks to all members of the General Assembly for giving confidence to him to assume the presidency of the Federation.

He pointed out that the new Board of Directors of the Federation will work to develop wheelchair basketball in the countries of the continent and intensify the establishment of tournaments in all regions of the continent, in advance his thanks to the members of the Asian Federation. Al-Hajri dedicated this victory to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God protect and sponsor him, the first supporter of Kuwaiti disabled sports and for all members of the Kuwaiti club.

He valued the support of the Public Authority for Sports and the Kuwait Paralympic Committee for Kuwaiti disabled sports, which had the greatest impact by achieving this achievement, which is added to many of the achievements achieved by Kuwaiti disabled sports at the sports and administrative levels. — KUNA
