KUWAIT: The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Union of Cooperative Societies, Musab Al-Mulla, stressed the importance of national initiatives and the establishment of specialized festivals in cooperative societies throughout the year in support of the national product, encouraging national employment and owners of small and medium enterprises and strengthening the country’s economy.
Al-Mulla made his remarks on Thursday after meeting with chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Society for Festivals Tariq Al-Obaid, the general coordinator of media festivals Nasser Al-Muhallil and members of the festivals team and marketing of national products in the association that the importance of this stems from the fact that cooperative societies are the largest market in the country for marketing national agricultural and industrial products.
He explained that the volume of sales of cooperative societies in Kuwait annually amounts to more than KD 1 billion (about $3.3 billion), adding that the cooperation between the Union and the Society is of special importance and as a model in forming successful partnerships to support the national product in accordance with the goals and visions that establish the principles of sustainability in society for sustainable development.
He pointed to the "Sustainable Agri-tourism” initiative launched by the Kuwait Society for Festivals in cooperation with the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources and a number of concerned authorities as a qualitative leap towards promoting sustainable green initiatives in society.
Al-Mulla underlined the keenness of the Union of Cooperatives and other associations to market and facilitate the purchase of national products subsidized by the state. "As cooperative societies are the main incubator for most agricultural and industrial products in the country, at a time when the union supports national industrial products in general and productive farms in particular.”
Al-Obaid said that this is the second meeting with the federation and falls within the periodic meetings held by the Kuwait Society for Festivals with actors concerned with supporting tourism and entertainment tracks, including the marketing track.
"With the integration of these roles, it is possible to move forward towards achieving the state’s vision of transforming Kuwait into a financial, commercial and economic center in the region and focusing on the desired goal of supporting national agricultural and industrial products, initiatives and small and medium enterprises,” Al-Obaid pointed out.
