KUWAIT: The Asian Shotgun Championship continues at Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex, as qualification rounds will be completed by shooting at 50 clay targets followed by the final rounds of men, women and juniors.
The tournament was officially declared open on Saturday evening in the presence of International Shooting Sport Federation Senator Luciano Rossi, President of Asian Shooting Confederation (ASC) Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, President of Arab and Kuwait Shooting Federations, Secretary General of ASF and KSSC Obaid Al-Osaimi, Deputy General Manager of Public Authority for Sport Hamid Al-Hazeem, heads of Asian Federations and several ambassadors in Kuwait.
Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud declared the Championship open hoping the games will be highly competitive and enjoyable, specifically that it has 8 quota places for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics. Engineer Duaij Al-Otaibi appreciated the fatherly care by HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for Kuwait Shooting that had a great influence on its development and the significant achievements.
He said having 500 athletes and officials will give the championship a special flavor of competition as each competitor aims at reaching the Olympics, and the organizers prepared all that is necessary with the support of concerned state entities to ensure the success of this highly important event. Eng Al-Otaibi thanked the officials of ISSF AND ASC for granting Kuwait the right to organize this major tournament.
President of ISSF Luciano Rossi said ISSF is confident that Kuwait Federation will succeed in organizing the championship and commended the organizing committee headed by Eng Duaij Al-Otaibi , adding that there will be 4 quota places for men and 4 for women in the trap and skeet events. Rossi said ISSF is keen on strengthening relations with ASC under the leadership of Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud and Secretary General Duaij Al-Otaibi .
