KUWAIT: The Kuwait Federation for Sports has launched a 12-week sporting activity in the sports villages under the auspices of the Public Authority for Sport. The program is distributed to all governorates. Member of the board of directors and chairman of the media and Public Relations Committee at the Federation, Walid Saqabi, said in a press statement that the establishment of sports villages came as a result of a continuous effort for several months and mutual coordination with the Public Authority for Sport and the private sector to achieve the desired goals.
Al-Saqabi explained that the activities of the Kuwaiti Sports Federation are “non-profit,” and its goal is to create a healthy society in a comprehensive and interactive manner with the sports activities held across the country. The aim is to eradicate chronic diseases and obesity. The program will last for 12 weeks. The activities will be on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays of each week.
Sports villages contain a lot of sporting activities for all categories of people. Among these activities are football, table tennis, chess, hockey, archery, boxing, volleyball, floor tennis, basketball, and electronic games. There are also public health areas and children’s areas. He stated that one of the most important tasks is to spread awareness of the importance of sports in improving the quality of life and provide opportunities to encourage the community to exercise regularly.
