Washington: Kuwaiti surgery professor Mousa Khorsheed has received an honorary doctorate from the American College of Surgeons (ACS).
Speaking to KUNA on the occasion, Khorshid dedicated this accomplishment to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Deputy Amir and Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
Khorshid, who was chosen in 2021 for this degree, was handed out the doctorate in a ceremony held in San Diego in California, as part of 10 surgeons all over the world.
Khorshid, who is the first GCC surgeon to get this degree, said it is the highest certificate during his career.
Specialized in laparoscopic, tumors and obesity surgery, Khorshid said that he has already obtained fellowship of the ACS, adding that this doctorate is an horning given to a doctor for his roles over his career.
He expressed his esteem to represent Kuwait in this event, indicating that this doctorate is granted to those who contributed to the annual conference of surgeons held in Kuwait for 20 years.
The conference invited doctors all over the world, and he was named to take the honorary doctorate for such efforts, he noted.
He thanked the Ministry of Health, the Kuwait University and the Faculty of Medicine for backing the conferences.
Meanwhile, Kuwaiti Ambassador to the US Jasem Al-Budaiwi said the doctorate is a "pride for Kuwait", adding that Kuwaiti people are innovative mainly in medicine.
He pointed out that the honoring shows achievements of Khorsheed in his medicine, stressing Kuwait's pride for this move. "It is a wonderful achievement," he said.
