ALGIERS: Algeria on Tuesday received two Kuwaiti airplanes carrying firefighting and civil protection equipment to help the country combat devastating wildfires. Upon the arrival of the aid at Houari Boumediene Airport, head of civil protection Boualam Boughlaf said in a statement that the aid would be directed to the field to back into the country's huge and massive potentials to face the fires.
He stressed that the aid reflects the Kuwaiti political leadership's solidarity with Algeria in its distress, and shows the sisterly relations between the two countries. He voiced appreciation to Kuwait's government and people for this valuable assistance.
Meanwhile, Kuwait's Ambassador to Algeria Mohammad Al-Shabu said receiving these tools and equipment mirror Kuwait's support to Algeria to face these fires amid difficult weather conditions, voicing his confidence in Algeria's ability to overcome this plight. Kuwait Fire Force (KFF) had earlier announced that two Kuwaiti Air Force planes carrying six firefighting mechanisms headed to help in combating the forest fires and rescue operations, upon His Highness the Amir's directives. - KUNA
