
KUWAIT: Competitions of the local tournament for the disabled continued at Kuwait Disabled Sports Club, under an outstanding technical level by player in the three sports being played shooting, athletics and target ball for the blind.
Results of the target ball for the blind saw Al-Nasser team defeat Al-Wahda with the score of 11-6, making sure it will win the tournament one day ahead of its conclusion, as it won the opening match with the score of 7-5 against Tahreer team. In the prone rifle shooting competition shooter Fahad Al-Muwaizri won first place followed by Essa Al-Fadhly and Salman Al-Fadhly.
Meanwhile in athletics Ahmad Naqa finished first in the 300m running with wheel chairs, while Faisal Al-Rajhi won the 60m event. In the Mace throw while sitting Hamid Wabdan was the winner, while female player Basima Faraj won the shot put sitting.
Abdelrahman Al- Kandari won the discus throw sitting, as Abdallah Al-Harz was declared winner of the combination discus throw, while Dhari Botti won the combination shot put standing. Deputy President of Kuwait Disabled Sports Club Nasser Al-Ajmi said in a statement the tournament enjoyed large participation and characterized by strong competition between all participants.
He said these competitions are meant to prepare participants for the Paralympics games to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil next September. Al-Ajmi said the club decided to organize the fourth and final championship this season next May and will include basketball on wheelchairs, swimming for men and women and table tennis.
Al-Ajmi thanked Information Minister, State Minister for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al- Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, and Director General of Public Sports Authority Sheikh Ahmad Mansour Al-Ahmad Al- Sabah for their support.
On his part player Othman Al- Tarkeet said he was happy with the level of the athletics events and his participation for the first time. He said the participants will also participate in the swimming competition in the fourth and final tournament.
