KUWAIT: The 20th relief plane of the Kuwaiti air bridge departed on Sunday to Damascus International Airport, carrying 36 tons of foodstuffs as part of the country’s humanitarian campaign: “Kuwait by Your Side.” The latest humanitarian initiative was co-organized by Kuwait’s Zakat House, in collaboration with the Ministries of Defense and Interior, represented by the Kuwait Air Force.

Speaking to KUNA ahead of takeoff, Projects and Local Organizations Superintendent at the Zakat House Aayed Al-Mutairi said that the Zakat House was able to deliver vital food aid to Syria, focusing on flour due to its critical demand. He noted that the daily need for flour in Syrian governorates is estimated at 5,000 tons. Al-Mutairi added that shipments of aid would continue beyond Ramadan, with 20 trucks loaded with assistance being prepared for land delivery in coordination with the relevant authorities.

On her part, Zakat House spokesperson Manal Hussein reiterated the importance of participating in the “Kuwait by Your Side” humanitarian campaign to support Syria, emphasizing the role of Kuwaiti donations in sustaining this effort. She also highlighted the ongoing coordination with Kuwaiti ministries, the Syrian Red Crescent and local authorities.
