KUWAIT: Two absconding maids found themselves victims of an Ethiopian woman who sold them in cahoots with a taxi driver to two men, Indian and Bangladeshi, for KD 100 each. The victims, Sri Lankan and Nepalese, were both forced to get involved in immoral activities. Detectives were able to rescue them and arrested the two men. They are still looking for the Ethiopian and the driver.
Human trafficking
Residency detectives arrested a citizen who obtained several licenses based on one address and one office in order to bring in the largest possible number of workers in clear violation of the law. Residency detectives learned that a citizen got licenses for several companies all based on one address and civil ID number. When the information was confirmed, the citizen was arrested and confessed to getting the licenses to recruit the largest number of workers. The companies were placed on the sponsorship blacklist and workers registered under those companies are considered loose laborers.
Drunk officer makes hoax call
A police officer from the general security sector called operations and told them he saw a bus full of 'Daesh' militants. Bearing in mind where the call came from, it was taken seriously and state security, criminal detectives, and general security officers went to the area to take action. When they arrived at Abu Al-Hassaniya, they surveyed the area and searched around, but there was no bus to be seen. The call was determined to be a hoax. A security source said the officer, a lieutenant in Ahmadi security department, was found in the area, but was extremely drunk. He was arrested and taken to state security for questioning.
Kidnap, theft charges
Interior Ministry authorities began an investigation to find exactly what happened to a pregnant woman who claims that she was kidnapped and mugged. A security source said the woman said an unidentified person in women's clothes kidnapped her from in front of a commercial institution, took her to Umm Al-Haiman and dumped her in the open desert after robbing her money. The woman said she called her brothers who took her to Adan Hospital because she is pregnant. Meanwhile, the woman's husband accused her brothers of kidnapping her due to disputes between them, adding they had to return her because they knew he will not let things pass. - Al-Rai
