MANAMA: Kuwait Minister of Health Dr Ahmad Al-Awadhi said on Sunday that the Arabian Gulf University is a bridge connecting the Gulf countries and a window that opens to the world the talents of our children and their creativity. This was stated in a speech delivered by Dr Al-Awadhi during the graduation ceremony of the 18th graduating sets of the Arabian Gulf University.

In his speech, Dr Al-Awadhi stressed that the Arabian Gulf University has become an academic edifice and a scientific beacon that shines with science and knowledge, successively headed by capable scientific figures starting from Dr Abdullah Al-Rifai to Dr Saad Al-Fahid. He pointed out that since its establishment in 1980, the Arabian Gulf University has embodied the noble vision that education is the basis for providing the GCC nations with the science, knowledge, and skills necessary to promote and compete in various fields globally. The university has been and remains a symbol of Gulf and Arab identity.

The Kuwaiti minister expressed his happiness for being part of the university as one of its graduates and his pride to witness these immortal moments that culminate years of effort. He lauded the endless support of Bahraini King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa and the continuous follow-up from Bahraini Crown Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al-Khalifa.

He pointed out that the achievements of graduates of Arabian Gulf University in the fields of medicine, pedagogy, innovation management, technology, environmental sciences, and life sciences are proof of its success. In conclusion, he asked God to bless the graduates and urged them to work hard and be an example of perseverance and determination. For his part, Kuwait’s ambassador to Bahrain, Sheikh Thamer Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, expressed his pride and joy at the graduation of a constellation of future leaders of Kuwait, stressing that students are the true wealth of the homeland and the basis of its development project.

He congratulated the graduates and their families, wishing them a brighter future full of excellence and achievements that will elevate the status of their homeland, Kuwait. He stressed the importance of arming ourselves with science and knowledge. The envoy said that Kuwaiti graduates had the best representation and reflected the authentic Kuwaiti national identity through their perseverance, academic commitment, and organization of humanitarian activities. They also contributed to the activities of the national holidays, calling on them to continue with diligence and sincerity in their working lives.

He expressed thanks, appreciation, and gratitude to Bahrain for providing good facilities to the students. He also praised the Cultural Office in Bahrain, represented by its chairman, Dr Mohammed Al-Dughaim, and the office’s employees, for the constant and diligent follow-up of students. — KUNA

He also praised the continuous efforts by Gulf University to serve the people of GCC countries, stressing Kuwait’s keenness and its permanent support for the university and deepening cooperation at the scientific, academic, and research levels. Dr Al-Dughaim stressed the keenness of the Ministry of Higher Education to provide basic needs for all the students. Abdulaziz Al-Omairi, the father of the graduate Nora, told KUNA that his feeling is very great after waiting for 7 years, wishing her a professional life that suits her high level of ambition.

The consultant of family medicine, Dr Tahani Al-Naama, the mother of the graduate, said in a statement to KUNA that her joy is indescribable as she recalled her graduation memories and her happiness, asking for God’s blessings. For his part, Khaled Al-Mutotah, the brother of graduate Shawq, expressed in a similar statement his happiness and joy.

Graduate Fatima Al-Najdi, in a statement to KUNA, dedicated her degree and graduation (from the Faculty of Medicine) to her parents, saying that her feelings are unspeakable at this moment. The graduation ceremony was attended by Kuwait’s Minister of Health, Dr Ahmad Al-Awadhi, the state’s ambassador to Bahrain, Sheikh Thamer Jaber Al-Sabah, the chairman of the Bahraini Supreme Council of Health, Lieutenant General Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Khalifa, the Bahraini Minister of Education, Mohammed Juma, and a large number of parents of the graduating students. — KUNA
